Amit Lall's mission updates from Chandigarh to McLeod Ganj (April 15th to April 22nd)

Hi Guys,

After Chandigarh, I have covered Solan, Simla,Dharamshala & Macloedganj. Its 21st April and am off to Jammu (J&K) tomorrow.

In Chandigarh I was back with Taj. The first Taj after my NE journey was Lucknow and now Chandigarh. Here I met Prachi & Jus - 2 girls who helped me in Chandigarh and are part of United Force of India. Prachi was a friend of Mohit from Dehradun who was a friend of my brother in Kanpur, its a great network chain, which is exactly what I am creating with The United Force of India. In Chandigarh I had a press meet and got excellent coverage. Due to the papers, another NGO - Taj Heritage - working on the Taj Mahal in Agra and the families of the people who built the Taj. They too have started a peace mission merging Mahatma Gandhi & Taj. They invited me to a meeting at the Punjab University where the PU students union gave their support to my Mission alongwith the University management. They felicitated me and made me an honourary guest on the dias and heard me out. They too are with The United Force of India now.

I had a meeting with Mr.Singh the upcoming president of the Roatary Club in Chandigarh and he showed his support. I took his advice on the govt. schemes, as he felt that the work I have taken on is very difficult but the mission is achievable. Why reinvent the wheel and start fresh development projects, when the govt. has made provisions. There are a lot of schemes made by the govt. for all the states and all groups of people and for development purposes. The govt. also has funds alloted and kept aside for these schemes, but no one had ever implemented these schemes, so the funds are being misused. With the help of the Right to Information Act (RTI) - UFI will get all the schemes that are available and start implementing them. I will start with the Northeast and slowly allocate the UFI team in each state to start implemetning schemes in their states. We will not ask for the money, but will tell them th requirement and ask for a deadline. This way we will ensure that the schemes made by the govt; are implemented are the funds allocated for the same are used correctly. I met Mr.Pramod of Yuv Satta - an NGO formed in 1995. He has done a lot of work for the development of the people in Chandigarh and is well respected for sincere work. This NGO has also come on board UFI.

After a couple of days here, I drove into Solan, where I was greeted on the bypass highway by some journalism students who had read about me in the papers and seen me on TV in Chandigarh. They called the loacl press to meet up with me and I had a talk with the students. I spend a couple of hours with them and moved on to Pawar Institute of Mass Com where I was welcomed by the Director who was informed by Mr.Pramod (Yuv Satta - Chandigarh NGO). He called the students who spend time with me & made me do a radio show for them on their community radio. I then moven on and drove into Simla that same evening.

In Simla, I drove into Mall Road, a place where cars are not allowed. But they saw the mission I was on and let me go through. I met the press and did a shoot on Mall Road. I met young boys and girls at Mall Road and spoke to them there. I then met Mrs. Premlata Gandhi of Sarvodaya – Bal Bhavan – Kasturba Gandhi Trust. This is an orphanage and the have about 50 boys here. This was formed 50 years back. They are doing excellent work. I spent 2 hours with the kids and they loved the car. They wanted to see me fly it, as some people told them also that its a flying car. Kasturba Gandhi Trust is all over India and they have also come on board UFI. The next day I visted HP university – Shikha Chauhan (President – Students union) They were on hunger strike as they had demands to be fulfilled by the university. They got all the students together and are the SFI (Students Federation of India). They put stickers on my car and have shown their support and have joined UFI. I then met a professor there - Met Mr.Ajai Srivastav. He helps the disabled. He fights for their rights and I told himthe other disabled schools and instituitions I had visited and he too has joined me. He called ADC to Governor & All India Radio. The Governor was out so I could not meet her, but I met up with AIR Simla. They did a 20 minute recording with me and spread my word throughout Himachal Pradesh.

After a couple of days here, I drove off to Dharamshala. I was supposed to return back to Chandigarh and drive from Chandigarh to Jammu as it had a perfect highway, but the people in Simla felt I should drive through Himachal Pradesh and experience the hills & mountains and since Dharamshala is the home of the Dalai Lama, my peace drive should go through there. I reached Dharamshala and moved onto Macloedganj where the Dalai Lama stays. There was a protest march going on by the monks when I enetered. It was because 3 tibetan girls were sentenced to death by China. I spent time with the locals to understand the tibetan culture and how the Dalai Lama came here and what has happened since the past 50 years. I will be writing it in my book, as its too long to mention here. I spent a few hour in the Dalai Lama Monastery and stayed opposite it.

I am now ready to drive into J&K tomorrow my 23rd state. I am heading for Jammu via Pathankot.

Do tell people to got on to facebook and join THE UNITED FORCE OF INDIA. and tehy can write to unitedforceindia@gmail.com

I have attached a few Chandigarh news clips. I will attach the Simla news clips in my next mail.

All articles are good, but READ THE INDIAN EXPRESS - CHANDIGARH NEWSLINE "The Messenger". It is by far the best article which writes each and everything about my drive and my mission without missing a detail.

Amit reaches Chandigarh April 15th 09

Man on Mission

It was the Mumbai terror attacks that steered him to undertake a journey on wheels for peace and unity

No doubt, 26/11 affected everyone; shock, anger, dismay, revolt; who was emotionless? No one. Few souls inched to candlelight marches, blogs; How many would pull the car out of garage and set to drive through 27 states, 18000 kms, in 90 days with a message of peace and unity?

“I was a pretty regular guy who partied and everything,” words coming straight from Amit Lall, till he almost lost his mother to the attacks. She was lucky by just a few ticks of the clock. The carnage, blood, helplessness and the, till now businessman, began his Drive for Peace and Unity, starting January 26 from the Gateway of India. While on last leg of his tour, driving from Kargil, in the city, there are just a few places still to go, “After this I move to Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Shimla, Jammu.” This, after covering five international borders. “I started with the objective to prove we Indians are resilient, who wouldn’t be scared of their beastly acts. I didn’t expect this kind of tremendous response, now I’m much more focused. When I go back, I’m going to pen all my experiences in a book.”

Sure there must have been teething troubles? He says, “Yes, the Indian mindset. ‘What’s in it for him’ kind of suspicion.” All past, for the man found his sponsors in the Taj group of hotels and Hyundai motors.

While in Chandigarh, he’s going to get in touch with NGOs, “Yuvsatta, an NGO and one more person has got in touch with me.” Elaborating his plans on the United Force of India, an organization he’ll form by uniting the people and NGOs, which by the way, is on Facebook or can be reached through unitedforceindia@gmail.com. “Twentyeight states, all the non-government organizations, the youth coming together. Imagine the kind of platform and power it’s going to provide.” Life can be summed in three words…It goes on…Someone has to lead; preferably armed with vision.

Amit's updates from dehradun, Uttranchal 11th April 09

Hi Guys,

After Kanpur, I have covered Bareily, Haridwar & Dehradun. Its 14th April and am off to Chandigarh tomorrow.

In Bareily, Round Table India welcomed me in and I stayed at the Bareily club. I met the Brigadier there and they insisted that i be their guest at the club when they heard of my Mission. It was just a stop over beofre I enetered Uttaranchal, so I spent the evening with the Round table guys. They are very keen in setting up industries in the Northeast with me. They would also love to do a drive like this after I complete this mission of mine.

I then drove into Haridwar the next morning. I visited the Ganga and spent an hour there. I was thinking of what the NGO Eco Friends of Kanpur had told me about the Ganga.

I moved on and entered Dehradun, where the Round table guys welcomed me in again. I stayed at the Inderlok Hotel which belongs to a family friend. Dehradun is beautiful. I met up with the Doon school alumni, and met the Dean of the school and the core people of the alumni and talked to them of my mission. They too have apparently started moving towards the same thing as my Mission and we decided to do things together.

I then met the Doon girls - this school is upto 6th grade. It belongs to the same friend who owns the hotel. Doon girls – upto class 6. Very happy to see me. I had met them 2 days back. They gave me letters and made cards for me. The teachers told me that they made me out to be some kind of a man who has a flying car. They have never heard of any car that can drive around India like the way I do, they feel only planes and trains can do that, so they think I fly from one place to another in my car. Some girls even called their parents in Calcutta & Lucknow and other places to check if they had seen my car fly from there. I said bye to them and told them I will reply to all their letters.Very touching letters, which I will share with everyone once I get back. I promised to write to them.

I then went to an NGO - Raphael - its 50 years old and deals with leprosy patients and TB patients (they have a TB hospital). I spend 2-3 hours there and met the leprosy burnt (cured) patients. Its sad ow after being cured also they are still shunned from society. In that place there are even cildren of the leprosy patients who are normal healthy children but are treated as untoucable because their parents are lepers. Raphael also as mentally retarded (special) and pysically handicapped children. I have merged this NGO also with The United Force of India.

I went to another school which is for the underprivelidged children. Ex Army man runs school for the underpriviledged kids. They charge Rs.250 per month as compared to other schools where they charge Rs.3,000 per month to Rs.7,000 per month. Big schools charge Rs.50,00 for 4 month semester. Upto class 8. The kids of that school not paid fees for a few months. Dad is retd. So he needs help. Wants to make school till class 10. Will talk to round table guys to help.I then contacted Col. I.N.Khanna. Runs school NIVH (National Institute of Visually Hnaidcapped – soldiers who lost their vision.

I then went to the IMA (Indian Military Academy). Met the BGS (Brigadier General Staff) – Brig Rampal.Went around to see the IMA. Met staff officer to Commandant, who had spoken to Retd.Brig.Sinha from Raphael. I got the opportunity to meet the Commandant of te IMA. He was very happy to see me. I presented him with the Indian flag. The IMA had just received some ind of threat by terrorists a day before I had visited them, so security was beefed up. I saw a little training there.

I then met the Governor of Uttaranchal. He was very happy to meet me and had read about me. We discussed my meeting with Governor of Arunachal (Gen J.J.Singh), he was happy that I was working toward the development of the NE. He mentioned when he was in Meghalaya and there are caves there which are long and wide and have over 50 openings to different parts of Meghalaya. It’s unexplored and would make excellent tourist attractions. My friends told him how they had joined me in The UFI (United Force of India) and was starting mineral water plants in Uttaranchal and also NE. He saw my car and told me that he was very inspired and touched and felt what I was doing was infectious and motivating

I met up with the press and spoke to them of my message. I got a group of 4 guys who have joined the UFI. Now the facebook page (UNITED FORCE OF INDIA) is being updated by them. The e-mail is ready of unitedforceindia@gmail.com

This was a very fulfilling trip, I then moved on to Chandigarh.

I have attached a few Dehradun news clips.

Let's outgrow these homegrown Jihadis with our home grown methods..

sangti valley-with the famous sheep breeding centre
Assam Kaziranga

Encircled by four countries- Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma (Myanmar) and China, India's northeast region is home to more than 30 active or dormant terrorist organizations, spread over seven states.
The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), the Dima Halim Daogah (DHD), the All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) and the Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA). [2] ULFA, an ethnic terrorist group fighting for an independent Assam since 1979, operates several camps in Bangladesh and Myanmar and its top leaders are presently based in Bangladesh.(Rediff.com, July 25, 2006; Times of India, July 25, 2006).

On Amit's visit to the North East Region and his subsequent meetings with the Governors of Arunachal and Mizoram, he is of the opinion that these insurgent activities can be curbed with easy homegrown methodoligies. No. 1 being supporting and encouraging tourism and various industries in these scenic environmentally friendly states. For Amit believes, that these mislead youths, are nothing but poverty stricken human beings who have been forced to adopt such anti-nationalistic activities, further propelled by any lack of hope or encouragement of a better future.

During his recent visit to the states, there have been a surrender of arms by one insurgent group, who was encouraged to go clean and rehabilitate by being promised better living conditions by the governor. This one incident is an eye opener and an indicator of hope for a better future.

It is hence my plea and appeal to my fellow citizens, to wake up and take charge! Let's not allow our beautiful "North East" to become another "Kashmir" . There;s time and there is hope...But the time for slumber is clearly out!! Please send in your vote on how many of you would be willing to invest in starting a new business/Industry in the North east if directly supported and facilitated by the Governor's of these states?

I hope to get truck loads of yey's from a charged up young India!!!

Amit's press clips and message from Lucknow 3rd April 09

Hi Guys,

I reached Lucknow on 3rd April & was off to Kanpur on 5th April and then to Bareily on 8th April.

After very long the Round Table guys were back to welcome me with the Ladies Circle (wives of the Round Table). I have spoke to my friends in Sikkim, Meghalaya & Nagaland to open Round Table in their states.

They organised a press meet at the Golf Club and then took me out at night to meet all the people. It was a weekend, so I could not meet the Governor. I spoke to the Mayor of Lucknow Dr.Dinesh Sharma and went to his place, but we couldn't meet as he was urgently called on Sunday for election work. So we just spoke on the phone and he showed his support.

I met Naveen form Sahara who was very happy to meet me and he himself was doing his bit for the poor. I was very happy to know the work Sahar is doing and he has given his full support to United Force of India.

In Kanpur I met the Home minister Shri Prakash Jaiswal & the mayor of Kanpur. I was welcomed by the Round Table in Kanpur alongwith my family friends who I stayed with. Kanpur is my mother's hometown, and since this Mission started because my mother was in the train, I made it a point to see Kanpur, the place my mother was born. My family there runs Bal Bhavan for handicapped and mentally challenged children. I spent a few hour with those kids and they were really happy to see me. I took samples of the handicrafts they make in order to get buyers to purchase their gift items.

Kanpur became the official place where I started "THE UNITED FORCE OF INDIA". My brothers there have joined in and will start businesses in the Northeast & I have appointed people there to start the organisation.

I met another NGO there who joined The UFI. These people are called Eco Friends. They have undertaken the cleaning of the Ganges. This started in 1995. When they saw black water in their taps & found dead bodies floating in the Ganga river. They found an average of 150 bodies every 3-4 months. There is lots to tell about this organisation who are doing a tremendous job.

I then met another organisation who also joined The UFI, they get poor & orphaned girls married. This organization for mass marriages started 4 years back. He has gotten 75 girls married so far. This year was 34 girls. Next year 50 girls. He collects money and gets gives saris jewellery fridge,tv, utensils, bed, home stuff. 34 horses, 34 barats, 34 pandits / maulvis, over 40,000 people for wedding. Bandmasters do it free, cracker guy makes it free, its like their contribution and they feel they are doing a good deed. This is unity. Maxlife gave 50% off on life insurance. They put balance 50% for husband & wife. They take responsibility of boys not to harass girls after marriage. No complaints till date. Boys from good families & good jobs, girls orphans and below poverty line. Very noble work. He started this work when he and his friend were passing a village & saw a girl had been burnt & buried by her husband & father in law. After that sight they felt they will help in some way, and started this. They have joined United Force of India.

I dont know how many of you guys know this. But please revert back with an answer.

What is the meaning of our National Anthem? and who wrote it and when? Who was the anthem sung for?

Please do send me your replies. If you do not know, tell me, I will give you the answers to these questions.

I have attached a few Lucknow newspaper cuttings and I will attach the Kanpur ones in the next mail.

Please check out UNITED FORCE OF INDIA on facebook & the official e-mail created is unitedforceindia@gmail.com . Please do join on facebook and ask your friends and colleagues to join too. Any querries can be sent to the mail.

Hi Guys,

I am in Patna (Bihar) and leaving for Lucknow (UP) today - 3rd April.

Northeast is over. This experience has completely changed my life. It gave a completely new direction to my Mission. I have really changed as a human being after this, which I cant really decribe in words. All I can say is "Life is precious and very short - value it". "Freedom is a priveledge - Don't take it for granted". Do what you can for others - You will experience a beautiful feeling - It will teach you the true meaning of Life. Life & love is in giving - Not in taking and possessing and owning and cotrolling. Material pleasures are temporary - You cannot take them with you after you die. The deeds you do while you are alive is what really counts. I remembered the Bible - Do unto others as you would like to be done unto you & The Gita - We came with nothing - We will go with nothing. What is ours today, was somebody else's before us and what is ours today will be somebody else'e tomorrow. I am not very good at quoting the Gita & Bible, but you can figure out what I mean. The only true thing that we can say belongs to us or we "own" is our soul. And the soul is everlasting and immortal. Everything else is temporary.Ok i'm getting too deep, but I guess, this is what this experience has done to me.

As for the driving all alone, Northeast Driving was a different ballgame all together. It was all hills, mountains, jungles, forests. Army convoys, terrorists, curfew after 5.00pm, sunset by 4.30pm 5.00pm. Roads are 45 degree angles in the hills. You cant speed more than 40 kmph. I went to China, Bhutan, Burma, Nepal & Bangladesh borders. So its 5 countries + 8 states Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland & Arunachal Pradesh. The entire Northeast drive was 5555 kms.

It took me 36 days to cover 5 countries + 8 states & 5555 kms. It was tough !!!!!!

Kargil seems like a walk in the park now, but I now feel expect the unexpected, so I can't comment till I get there..........Nathula, the China border 14,300 feet above sea level very steep roads and snow, Kargil is only 11,800 kms.

I stayed at Rangia Military Station with the army in Assam after I drove out of Arunachal Pradesh. I then moved onto Siliguri the next day 30th - 31st March. I went to a school run by my uncle who was in the Army Capatain J.K.Sengupta. His tank blew up in the 1965 war where he went blind. He now runs a school for the blind, deaf, dumb and physically challenged children. I spent hours there with the children. They are so gifted. The make lovely handicrafts, which I am going to help in putting in retail stores for sale. They all, over 175 students came to meet me and the saw my car, felt and touched my car and said some wonderful things to me which they put down in a beautiful letter in braile. This is the first letter I have received in braile and its a real treasure. The other children wrote to me in Bengali. The blind kids felt my face and my car to feel what I looked like. In a nutshell they said that they always thought that the Dove or white pigeon was the bird of peace, but first time they realised that the messenger of peace was a man who flies in his white car as the doors, when open, represent the wings of a bird that spread open before take off for flight. They also felt my car and told me - "Uncle we can feel and see things normal people can't, and you are not alone, as God is sitting in the seat beside you while you drive and he is your co-pilot and will guide you through all dangers safely." The kids said that first they wanted to grow up and become doctors and engineers and scientists, but after meeting me and hearing me speak they wanted to wanted to grow up and become me - become like me and drive around and spread love and peace and help the people who need help. I was so touched by all this which I cannot explain.

I then moved on to Patna. Siliguri is the entry and exit point of the northeast. You have to cross it to go in & cross it again to go out. I met lovely Doctors who were family friends, who do a lot for society. Their wives have an organisaion - Shilpi - for women empowerment and work who joined and supported me. Bihar Motor sports club also supported me. I met the Governor of Bihar at the Raj Bhavan. Had my press meet and am off to Lucknow - 3rd April. I met the people of Bihar as I moved on.

I have attached the paper clippings of Patna.

The number I am reachable on is 9987017291.

Arunachal Pradesh - 26 -28th March 09

Hi Guys,

I am in Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) today - 28th March and am off to Rangia Military Station (30kms from Guwahati) (Assam) where I will be staying with the army tomorrow (this was the same place I wrote to you guys when 45 militants of ULFA had surrendered and I had just entered Guwahati - so they have welcomed me back when I exit the Northeast and then to Silliguri (West Bengal) - which would complete my Northeast drive.

I drove into Arunachal Pradesh at around 4.30pm and a huge thunderstorm hit at about 4.45pm. I had just got in and parked my car and after I took my bags in the storm hit in a huge way. It was one of the biggest of Arunachal. All electrical lines were cut, phone lines were cut, towers had falled, houses were blown off and caused a lot of damage. It took 2 days to set things back in order.

I had a wonderful experience here in Arunachal. I met the Governor (Retd.) Gen J.J.Singh (Ex- Chief of Army). He is a wonderful man and a very active Governor. The people of Arunachal love him and he does a lot for the state. He has doe such amazing changes that I was speechless and happy. When he heard and saw what I was doing along my drive, he requested me to stay back another day and see everything at the Raj Bhavan. I was his guest at the Raj Bhavan.

I don't know where to start. We discussed the scope of growth of Arunachal and I saw the work in progress. Arunachal has huge dams and will very soon become the largest electricity supplier of Inida, so much so that it can even provide electricity to the neighbouring Countries. Arunachal is the only state in India surrounded by 3 International borders - Bhutan, China & Burma. It is the most beautiful with an amazing view of the Himalayas and huge snow peaks, mountains, greenery and a scenery that words cannot describe.
Tourism has to be developed in a big way, so the Governor showed me a house they had ordered from Switzerland - its a build - your - own home made of wood, which is dismantled and sent to you and you can erect it yourself in 15-20 days. Its a proper 4 BHK house with a modular kitchen, bathrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, fireplace, the works. It was under construction when I was here and would be up by the 2nd-3rd of April as the President of India would b visiting here on the 1st and will be araound for a few days to see the development.

Arunachal has a lot of Bamboo, so the Governor had bought machines which cut and slice the bamboo and are further made into various products like handbags, laptop bags, car seat covers, mobile phone covers, Vention Blinds and many many many such items. These items are available in Thailand now and other surrounding areas and are expensive. This bamboo industry would generate a lot of employment alongwith a lot of income for the state.

He is promoiting organic farming in a big way and is growing all friuits and vegetables in the Raj Bhavan. He and his wife have taken keen interest and showed me the green house. They had 200 types of orchids there. hey are setting up a place for medicinal herbs also. Like Nagaland & Sikkim, Arunachal is big for Flora & Fauna & Horticulture.

He has his own poultry farm & 9 hole golf course in the Raj Bhavan. All this that I am describing here is within the premises of the Raj Bhavan. These are models to show the scope of growth Arunachal has and will be replicated around the state to start industries.

The Governor has built a small ground with a toy train for the tourists and locals. The people here have never seen a train.

There is lots more to do and see here, but I cannot describe it all in words. You have to visit here.

I had lunch and then spent the evening with the Governor and his wife. They gifted me some soveniers for my mother and myself, very sweet and loving people. They have invited my friends and family to visit again and be their guest at the Raj Bhavan.

I have attached the cuttings of the 3 papers of Arunachal pf when I enetered the state and the storm hit.

I will attach the other Arunachal cuttings in the next mail which mention the discussion between the governor and me for setting up industries in the state.

Regards

Amit Rajan Lall

My Message to every Indian...

Read this carefully. your Freedom depends on it!

Unity is Strength. Divide & Rule policy earlier lost us and cost us our Freedom. Today history is repeating itself. The people running our Country today are separating each state. They are trying to gain power and control of each individual state, thereby setting it apart from the others. Don't they know that merging more states makes India powerful, dividing each state and having internal conflicts makes India weaker? For e.g. the people today say "Jai Maharashtra", "Jai Karnataka", "Jai Haryana". WHY?

This is ONE COUNTRY - ONE NATION. our INDIA. all we have to say is. JAI HIND ! If we don't start participating in the events of our Country today, it will be too late and we would be slaves once again fighting for our Freedom! We as Indian Citizens have rights. We are a Democracy. We have freedom of speech, but people here are afraid to speak up. We are independant and have a right to live life on our terms.

Here women are being beaten in our Country and forced to wear clothes as per the likes and dislikes of our so called "leaders". Women don't have a right to wear what they want? Women don't have a right to drink alcohol after the age of 18 which is legal in our Country? Women are not allowed to talk to men and date men? Are these signs of a free Democratic India?

"Bapu" - Mahatma Gandhi is The Father of Our Nation. He preached Ahimsa (Non-Violence), all there is in our Country is violence & terror! If we follow Violence, why is Bapu the father of the Nation? If we follow Bapu, why are the Indians leading our Country resorting to Violence?India is a Secular Country. We are known to be tolerant of all religions. Why do we have these comunal riots? Why are the Hindu & Muslim constantly fighting and killing each other when they all are from the same motherland - INDIA, they have the same red blood, they eat the same food, they drink the same water, they breathe the same air, where is the secularism and tolerance?

Is this the INDIA we have become? Our people fought for our Freedom and gave their lives for us to enjoy this Independance. They shed their blood and sweat to give us a better future. Is this the future they had in mind for us? Today India is not a Democracy, Its a Dictatorship, dictated by Goondas (Goons & Criminals) who resort to violence to show their power. They are making the common man fearful and cowardly and supressing them & the common man is allowing this and is being supressed. Hitler ruled and now Taliban is coming! Is this what you want for INDIA? Do you want to bring children into this world who live under fear & terror? I think not.

So either Start Speaking up and fight for the bright future of the youth of tomorrow...or stop giving birth to more children bringing them here to live in fear and die.

We can loose our lives. But we cannot loose our freedom!

-Jai Hind

My Mission
The Drive for Peace and Unity
One Man – Covering One Country – With One Message

The Objective:

To prove that we Indians are a resilient lot who refuse to be shaken by a bunch of fanatics who choose the most cowardly method of trying to make a point, to slaughter innocents! To also spread the message that this drive around the sea and land boundaries of our country is the symbolism for the legendary “Lakshman Rekha” which would and should remain impenetrable by sheer unity. This unison aims at galvanizing the people against external threat and frustrating the enemy.

The Sentiment:

I, Amit Lall, am proud to be an Indian and will be attempting “The Drive For Peace and Unity”. Bombay was attacked by terrorists from the sea on 26th November 2008. I live at Churchgate and was lying unwell and helpless in my house when disaster struck our beloved city. I was angered and frustrated that I was physically unable to rush to help the victims of this carnage. In order to awaken the dormant unity amongst the people inhabiting within our “Lakshman Rekha” and to instill security consciousness, resulting in constant vigil against the enemy, I would like to drive along our sea coast starting from Bombay in the West, heading southward to Kanyakumari, then eastward to West Bengal and Nagaland, and then up north to Kargil, along the India – Pakistan border, and then return to Bombay via Delhi, halting at India Gate to salute the martyrs of our country. This mission will also convey a strong sentiment to our enemies, especially in the west and the east, that if they can’t scare one Indian such as me, with their cowardly act, how do they expect to scare the entire country – with this they should fathom the combined strength of the entire nation!

We are proud to be Indians, and we don’t fear anything if we stand united and stand by and protect our Country from any negative elements.

The Contribution:
I believe in the power of the mind and positive thinking. “What the mind can conceive, Man can achieve.” This would be my humble contribution to our people and I request for your support to accomplish this cause that I strongly believe in and stand for. Whichever State of the Union that I pass through, I would also meet the police of that State and the Armed Forces based there, and express my gratitude for what they are doing for our country and for the safety of every Indian. I will appreciate a cavalcade of drivers and bikers, to follow me to show support for the cause, even if they can do so only for a short distance. I will also like to share the trauma that we Bombayites suffered, with people I meet and interact with on my journey through all the Indian States.

The Logistics:

This Mission will be adequately covered by the Media and splashed on Television, Radio and the Newspapers for the benefit of the inland inhabitants. One Man – Covering One Country – With One Message.

The number “26” has proved disastrous for India and is now associated with tragedy and bad luck as the following events on this date are embedded in people’s psyche:

The Tsunami – 26th December
The Kutch Earthquake – 26th January
The Gujarat Floods – 26th June
The Bombay Train Blasts – 26th July
The Ahmedabad Blasts – 26th September
The Latest Terrorists’ Attacks in Bombay (Taj, Oberoi, CST & Nariman House) – 26th November

I Flagged off and launched this mission from the Gateway of India, on 26th January, 2009, our Republic Day. This mission and pilgrimage strives at removing the evil effects of the number 26 associated with disaster and death. After lighting a flame at Gateway of India and the CST, I will also light a flame at every place I stop and request the brave men of the State Police and Armed Forces to join me in doing so. When I reach New Delhi, I will light a candle at India Gate as a tribute to all the courageous Indians who have sacrificed their lives for our country. I will then continue on my Drive for Peace and finally return home by once again touching the Gateway of India on 26th February, 2009, thereby completing my Mission.

I will attempt to complete my journey in 100 days. The periphery of India is approximately 15,000 kms. I will drive approximately 10 – 12 hours a day and cover 500 - 600 kms. a day. I will be driving through 26 states. The only states I will not be entering would be Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh as they are in the interiors of India.

SPONSORS
I will be staying at TAJ Hotels across the country as Mr.Ratan Tata - Chairman Indian Hotels has been kind enough to make the TAJ group of Hotels my Hospitality partner across India for my drive.
I am driving my own Hyundai Accent which I have had for the past 8 years and it has proven its endurance and power, a car which can actually complete the entire drive of India without any hindrance. I shall use only one car and not change cars for the entire drive. I have the Hyundai Motor India Limited team to check and do the necessary touch ups to the car as and when required at any state across the Country.
